09.06.2023 – Day 10 – Istanbul to Güre/Balikesir – 497 km
8:05 a.m.
We left the hotel with 100% battery power and an announced range of 352 km, with 24 degree weather and under very cloudy skies. We crossed Istanbul’s northernmost bridge, the Yavuz Sultan Selim, (total length 2164 m, width 58.3 m, height 326 m) towards Izmir.
However, we then missed a freeway exit, which meant a 30 km detour!
To cross the Gulf of Izmit, we take the Osman Gazi Bridge (total length 2907 m, width 35.93 m, height 241.85 m). It links Dilovasi and Altinova and is the fifth largest suspension bridge in the world.
11:20 a.m.
Stop to recharge batteries in Bursa at the Mercedes branch. We have 28% of the battery left (122 km). It took more than half an hour before we were finally able to start the loading process with our application.
Over a cup of Turkish tea, we took advantage of the recharge time to start sorting out the few outstanding points for the rest of our trip, including our stay in Athens and visa applications for Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
1:10 p.m.
We were back on the road, 100% recharged and 365 km, with a temperature of 33.5 degrees. The Bursa region is a pleasant one, known for its fruit and vegetable crops and thermal waters.
3:58 p.m.
Arrival at the Ramada Resort Kazdaglari, Güre, 33 degrees, the end of our daily stage. The battery is at 42% (174 km) and we consumed an average of 20.1 kWh/100 km.
Total distance covered: 3631 km – daily stage: 497 km
