Everything you always wanted to know about the Classics Gallery
The Classics Gallery project came into being by way of a meeting between two men:
Sandro Mesquita and Jean-Pierre Mitard.
Sandro Mesquita has been General Manager of the Geneva International Motor Show since May 2020. He is passionate about all things automotive and innovation, and has over 20 years’ experience in marketing and business development for national and international groups.
Jean-Pierre Mitard, who previously ran a number of SMEs in French-speaking Switzerland, has been devoting himself entirely to his passion for oldtimers since 2021. In his capacity as Exhibition Curator, he provides GIMS 2024 Classics Gallery with his knowledge of the field and his network of contacts in the classic car sector.
Sandro Mesquita emphasises: “When Jean-Pierre proposed the project, I did not hesitate to agree because GIMS 2024 Classics Gallery is so much in keeping with the heritage of the Geneva International Motor Show. This initiative marks a return to the roots of the show, which for 100 years has been a beacon of innovation and new developments, marking every era. Our Auto.Future.Now theme comes into its own with the Classics Gallery.“
Jean-Pierre Mitard explains: “Sandro has given me an incredible opportunity to bring together so many iconic cars in Geneva. My aim is to give all visitors something to dream about, while satisfying the enthusiasts. Selecting the vehicles proved challenging, as the Geneva International Motor Show is packed with world premieres.”
